The Green Room Lounge in downtown De Pere, WI is once again hosting a unique theatre experience Friday and Saturday, May 20th & 21st. Known as the 24-Hour Theatre Collective, this event brings together writers, directors, actors and audiences to share in the creative process.
In a nutshell, multiple short plays will be written, rehearsed and performed for an audience – all within 24 hours.
We are reaching out to area theatre groups, as well as individuals with an interest in participating – hence the term “Collective.” The plan is to have all interested creative folks (writers, directors & actors) meet at the Green Room Lounge (353 Main Ave) at 11:30pm on Friday night.
Random teams will be selected, as one of the goals is to get members of the theatre community working collaboratively. Each team will have one writer, one director and a number of actors – depending on how many show up.
Writers will know how many actresses/actors they have to write for and who their director is. They will be given a suggestion and go off to write a short play overnight. Play length will vary based on the number of teams/actors. Ultimately, we’d like to create a 90 minute show.
Writers will have until 8am to write their play, at which point the scripts will be handed over to the directors. Directors and actors will rehearse until approximately 3pm. Technical rehearsal will follow until 6:30pm.
There will be two performances of these new works. The first at 7:30pm will be a Staged Reading (with scripts in hand, if necessary). The second will be a full scriptless performance starting at 9:30 pm.
Audience tickets are $10 per performance. The creative folks and audience members are invited to stick around following the late show for a cast party.
If interested, or if you have any questions or please feel free to contact Mike Eserkaln, owner of the Green Room Lounge at ceo@thegreenroomonline.com or (920) 983-0966.

“Britton is a charismatic performer who appears genuinely thrilled to share how simple his seemingly death-defying acts really are. His explanations are peppered with jokes and carnival flair, making even the dullest details memorable and entertaining.” – Chicago Reader

The show is for ages 18 and up. No one under 18 will be allowed in the venue. We are drinking and making dick jokes. Sorry, kids.
FreakShow & Tell is a critically acclaimed one-man show that blends science, freakshow, and storytelling into a 70 minute journey that is unlike any other. Fire Eating! Glass Walking! and more…Come see it.
18 and over ONLY
Thom Britton is one of the world’s most unique fire eaters. He blends stand-up comedy, storytelling and danger into an act that is 10,000 years old and brand new – at the same time.
But, the show isn’t just fire eating!
Over 100,000 volts of electricity, nails, chainsaws and broken glass are playthings for Thom Britton in FreakShow & Tell. You will not believe what you see.
“Hopefully the audience will understand not just HOW I eat fire, but WHY I wanted to learn to eat fire.”
FreakShow & Tell was originally performed in 2006, in Chicago at a small cafe and theater. The reception was…. well, not great. Fantastic reviews, but a low audience turnout almost killed the project right away. The show was remounted about a year later, and the results were amazing! Shows were sold out and ‘standing room only’ for months! Since then, FreakShow & Tell has been performed to great success and is still a critical darling!

You’ve seen the flashy suits and jewelry so bright that a blind man can see it shining. Now ask yourself “who is more entertaining than a pimp?” Pimprov revolves around four pimps who took improv classes…on accident. The group’s lack of political correctness and outrageous costumes are only part of the reason they’re growing in popularity. The other reason is they’re really funny!
One night only from Chicago, The Green Room and ComedyCity present Pimprov. Hailed by critics and audiences alike and running for over 10 years, it’s a show you don’t want to miss!
Opening set from ComedyCity, followed by Pimprov! Tickets $15 online or at the door.
